2010 Barn Bash Attracts Record Crowd
On April
9, the second annual Barn Bash was held at the Loveless Barn. The event honored and celebrated the Middle
Tennessee Youth of the Year Denzel Caldwell and the Sydney F. Keeble
Distinguished Service Award winner Scott Portis. WSMV’s Jonathan Martin served
as Master of Ceremonies of this year’s event. We are very grateful to our event
sponsors, attendees, auction donors, and the many volunteers that made this
event a huge success. Thank you to the Phoenix Club of Nashville for hosting the After Party, featuring the Chris Weaver band. To view photos of the Barn Bash After Party, click HERE.

Nancy Whidby started
with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee as a volunteer in
1974. In those earlier years, we were known as the Boys Club.
In 1980, Nancy was hired as a full-time employee of the Boys Club. As she tells is, "I did everything but run the locker room and the swimming pool." (That's because back then the boys swam in the buff) This statement is easy to believe as she tells her stories of how she cooked for each of the board meetings, developed the Club newsletter, helped start the girls program, advised the Keystone and Torch Clubs as well as the Smart Girls program, tutored members, set-up the administrative offices in the house that is now the location of the Thompson Lane Teen Center, managed the building of the Thompson Lane playground and pavilion, and reorganized the membership system.
At one point she was asked to become the Unit Director of one our newly opened Clubs. She declined the offer in order to continue to work closely with all of the kids throughout the Clubs system. She did, however, fill-in as Interim-Director of our largest club, Thompson Lane, while we were between full-time Directors.
Over the past two years, Nancy has been working as our Accounting Clerk in the administrative office. Though she really misses seeing her kids every day, she said that she will do anything that she can for the Boys & Girls Clubs, even if that takes her out of the Clubs.
