Thompson Lane Club
Explores New Cultures & Partnerships

The Thompson Lane Boys & Girls Club really enjoyed the month of April.  As part of our Cultural Exploration Program, our members celebrated Italy.  They learned about the flag, special landmarks, and geography, and spoke basic words and phrases. They also made their own pizza bites. We were very fortunate to develop a relationship with Regions Bank.  In honor of Earth Day, they brought a crew out and planted lots of flowers to surround our program areas and stocked our bird feeders.  Our members were so excited to see how great and welcoming our entrances have become.  In addition to planting flowers, Regions Bank also invited all of the Clubs in the Middle Tennessee area to an Appreciation Luncheon at the Regions Center in Downtown Nashville.  At this luncheon, they presented us with tons of new supplies and games.  It was incredible to see their generosity in the amount of items that they secured for us. When Glenview Elementary reached out to us and asked for our support during the TCAP testing, we were proud to assist them.  For three days, our full-time staff assisted the teachers during the morning hours and helped them in anyway they needed.  It was also a great way to be involved with our members outside of the Club setting, and to open up the doors of communication with their teachers.  The Principal and staff at the school have been so supportive of our program and we were glad at the opportunity to volunteer for them.  For the first time, we have implemented our Gameroom Champ of the Month Program.    Anthony has shown great leadership, participation, and an overall positive attitude while at the Club.  Many of our members have begun to look up to him, and he has embraced his new role as a teen mentor.  We’d like to congratulate 16 year old, Anthony Campbell, for being our April Gameroom Champ!
